The Coronation of King Charles III

During our activity planning meeting with the residents, our residents suggested a Big Coronation Bake off, leading up to the King's Coronation. Cake sponges were prepared in advance, cakes were built and decorated by both teams before judging commenced.

We planned a week full of activities and celebrations, but the highlight of the pre-celebrations was certainly the Big Coronation Bake Off. Two residents volunteered to go head to head with both our Chefs (2 teams, one resident and one Chef), whilst under the clock and in front of a full audience of residents, staff and visitors.

The event was one to remember with two masterpiece Coronation-themed cakes produced, our Judging panel decided on a draw, with a very close finish indeed!

It was great to get everyone involved, with residents working directly with our Chefs, a resident judging panel, and family, staff and residents in the audience.

There's never a dull moment at Queens View Harbour care home in South Ayrshire. This was a very fun-filled interactive afternoon, with lots of laughter, humour and celebrations.

Our resident planning group is where residents and the activities team come together to think of activities that can be incorporated into our weekly activities schedule. We strive to include residents in as many decisions as possible so that we can provide the best services and activities for them.

We often get some great requests from residents for activities so it's important we give them the opportunity to voice their ideas and opinions.
