Residents Celebrate 78th Annual Glasgow Taxis Outing to Troon

On Tuesday June 18th 2025, residents from Queens View Harbour were delighted to attend the 78th annual Glasgow Taxis Day in Troon - a much-loved tradition that has brought joy and community spirit since 1945.

Each year, taxi drivers from across Glasgow volunteer their time to take children with additional support needs on a special day out to the seaside town. In a vibrant display of creativity and kindness, the drivers decorate their taxis and dress in colourful costumes, bringing smiles to the faces of young passengers and spectators alike. The streets of Troon come alive with festive decorations and cheering crowds, as local residents gather to give the children the warmest welcome possible.

Queens View Harbour residents were given pride of place at the very front of the crowd, allowing them a clear view of the impressive convoy of decorated taxis. Waving enthusiastically to the children and joining in with the laughter and excitement, the residents truly felt part of something special.

Staff members were on hand throughout the day to support residents in finding the perfect viewing spot and to capture special moment on camera, ensuring lasting memories for everyone involved.

The outing offered a refreshing change of scenery, giving residents the chance to socialise, breathe in the fresh sea air, and enjoy the lively, heartwarming atmosphere. After the parade, the group wrapped up their day with a traditional 'chippy tea' from a local cafe - the perfect end to a delightful excursion.
