Children Dressed Up as Pirates

Visits From Our Local Nursery

Since Queens View Harbour Care Home in Troon first opened, we have thoroughly enjoyed building strong connections with Marina View Nursery, our neighbours across the road.

The staff and children from the Beach Hut (children aged between 3 and 5 years old) have regularly visited us and we have partaken in a variety of intergenerational activities, from sing-alongs and exchanging stories to crafts sessions where together we have created wonderful art pieces.

We have seen firsthand the wonderful benefits that these formed relationships have had on both the children and our residents. For instance, intergenerational activities can help promote social engagement and combat loneliness as well as help improve cognitive functions, physical health, and mental health.

Due to the success of these sessions, we are now very pleased to announce our new visiting schedule which has been organised by the senior nursery staff jointly with our Wellbeing Coordinators. Our schedule includes a variety of activities such as poetry reading, jigsaws and games, and planting sunflowers.

Wellbeing Activities at Queens View Harbour Care Home

There is lots more laughter to be had and stories to be shared and we look forward to seeing these relationships develop further and strengthen as the children and our residents continue to make memories together.

If you would like to find out more information about the activities we hold here at our care home in Ayrshire, or about life in general Queens View Harbour, then please get in contact with a member of our team who will be happy to help.
